Seascape texture panels inspired by artist Seb West (Whole of Primary EYFS - Y6)

Updated: Jun 30, 2021

This project was run across 4 different island school bases with children of all primary ages from EYFS through to Year 6. Each Island had been investigating landscape artists and in particular local Cornish artist Seb West. The final landscape is of a local beach on the largest island of St Marys. Each island school had their own panel which came together to form one final seascape.

We began the project with local beach trips to practice our sketching and observation skills as well as collect found beach materials such as shells, glass & plastics for our texture building. We used a combination of found natural and recycled man made materials to create our rich layers of texture.

Finally we were ready to paint and varnish. We used a combination of acrylic and spray paints to sponge, dab and paint our different sections & layers.
