Independent sketchbook work - artist analysis
As our school is in such a remote location spread over 4 islands some of our classes have mixed age groups this project was run with a class with children ranging from year 2 to year 6 all having a go at the same activity.
During our art lessons this term we have been learning about a whole range of artists and in this session we got the opportunity to independently research an artist of our own choice in our sketchbooks. We had completely free choice over who to choose and which media we would use!
We were encouraged to use techniques we had learned throughout the term for analysing other artists work like finishing the image, extracting an artists colour palette and experimenting with copying an artists media, texture or composition. We have begun to annotate our sketchbooks to use them to reflect on what we have learnt through our experimentation. After analysing our artist we presented them and shared our findings and opinions with the class.
