Exploring marking making with mixed media inspired by artist Laura Horn
In Year 5 & 6 have been looking at the exciting and expressive abstract art of Australian artist, Laura Horn. We looked at her range of abstract marks and watercolour explorations and discussed how she might have created these using a range of mixed media. This was our very first activity in our new sketchbooks (we've never had them before) so we were very excited to explore these marks ourselves and try to conquer our fear of 'white fright' (our fear of a blank white page). The children investigated across the page with a whole mixture of inks, oil pastels and paints.
We were all very proud of our first ever sketchbook pages!
