Painting & Printing inspired by the text 'The Dot' by Peter H Reynolds
During our creative primary project week we started our Dot project by studying the text 'The Dot' by Peter H Reynolds. This story really helped inspire us to believe that no matter who we are or what our skill levels we can all be brave and if we just keep trying we can all improve and create beautiful and unique artwork.
We spread this project over four sessions throughout the week and we began by exploring watercolour techniques in our sketchbooks just as Vashti does in the book! When we were confident with our skills we scaled up our watercolour painting to A2 size ready for carving & printing!
We used styrofoam safeprint and blunt pencils to carve our designs and practiced our printing skills in our sketchbooks. We loved experimenting with applying varied pressures and amounts of inks.
Finally by session 4 we were ready to print our giant dots! All our dots are totally unique and we are so proud of them all!
