Polystyrene planets inspired by Oliver Jeffers 'Here we Are' (EYFS-Y6)

fiveislandsacademy

When we finally returned to school after lockdown as part of our recovery curriculum every year group explored the book 'Here we are' by Oliver Jeffers. From EYFS to Year 6 we loved having a go a creating our own glittering planets. We started with a range of sizes of polystyrene balls cut them in half and used metallic paints, pva and glitters to represent each of the planets in our solar system.

TOP TIP

If we tried this project again hot glue gun doesn't work to attach polystyrene we now know the best bet is either tonnes of pva or if you have it some uhu glue. Also paint and pva glue on polystyrene takes a really long time to dry.
